Natural nappy creams & ways to prevent nappy rash
Prevention is better than cure so keep your baby happy and smiley with these simple steps
1. Change your baby’s nappy as soon as possible once wet.
2. Clean your baby’s bottom and genital area thoroughly in warm water after each bowel movement. You can add a few drops of Green People’s ultra mild and gentle baby wash which contains NO SLS/SLES, parabens, harsh preservative or synthetic fragrances. For more information see
Lavender Baby Wash
and
Chamomile Baby Wash.
3. Dry the nappy area by gently patting the skin and try to let your baby stay for as long as possible out of nappies, so the air can fully dry your baby’s skin.
4. Use a gentle, effective barrier cream, without synthetic fragrances and that is suitable for sensitive skin. Green People recommend
Organic Baby Salve
as this contains water resistant beeswax which naturally protects your baby from dampness. It is also suitable for those who may be prone to eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. If your child is already prone to nappy rash, then try
Soothe and Calm Baby Balm
which contains Zinc Oxide and is know for its healing properties, whilst beeswax protects from dampness to help prevent it from reoccurring.
5. Use nappies made from material that allows air to circulate and do not fasten too tightly, allowing your babies bottom to breathe.
6. If you favour reusable nappies use non biological, environmentally friendly washing powders and rinse thoroughly.
"I use the Organic Babies range which is all amazing and very gentle. I especially love the Baby Salve as my 4 month old has extremely sensitive skin, it is a great nappy salve but can be used anywhere."
